Åkerströms Björbo and Ovako Group in Sweden enter strategic partnership for a safer work environment

Åkerströms, which has developed high-tech radio remote control solutions for the industry for over 60 years, and Ovako Sweden – one of the leading industrial companies in the Nordics, have united through a licensing agreement to promote a safer work environment. The purpose is to secure manual processes involving heavy lifting through Åkerströms’ SAAS service, Access_Ctrl. The partnership represents a shared vision and a commitment to benefit long-term sustainability.

Hans Åkerblom, CEO of Åkerströms, emphasizes the importance of creating a safe work environment and minimizing the risk of production stoppages. “By streamlining security functions such as daily supervision and access control, and by forecasting maintenance and service for connected devices in the long term, we are taking a decisive step towards safer operations within the industry. The licensing agreement between us and the Ovako Group’s companies in Sweden not only signifies a joint commitment to safety but also a clear vision to drive industry development in a responsible direction.”

Phetra Ericsson, EVP Group HR, Communication & EHS for Ovako, says: “The service offered to our companies and facilities in Sweden aims to ensure a systematic way to increase personal safety for heavy lifting. After successful test installations, there is now the opportunity to expand with more connections in Hofors, Hällefors, Smedjebacken, Boxholm, and Hallstahammar. We look forward to further improving our personal safety and creating an even safer workplace for our employees.”

“Usually, large agreements are signed with pomp and ceremony, but this agreement was marked by a simple ceremony on the way to the office in Borlänge, by Stora Skedvi Church early in the morning,” says Hans. “It was a humble start to an important partnership. A partnership that is not only about business but also about the safety of every individual working for our clients.”
