EU Regulatory Compliance

What This Means for Åkerströms

Starting in 2026, new EU regulations are reshaping safety and cybersecurity requirements for machinery and connected products. Three regulations affect our industry: the Radio Equipment Directive (RED), the Machinery Regulation, and the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA). Together, they cover everything from wireless equipment and machinery to products that include software components.

Åkerströms is part of the Allgon Group, where extensive, group-wide efforts are underway to ensure that our products and future product generations comply with the new requirements. For Åkerströms, this means that our products are affected by all three regulations:

  • RED – The requirements are already met today. Our applicable products have a Declaration of Conformity and already comply with RED’s cybersecurity requirements.

  • Machinery Regulation – An active, group-wide certification project is underway for our Remotus products and upcoming product generations in preparation for the regulation’s application date on 20 January 2027.

  • Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) – Readiness activities are ongoing across the entire Allgon Group ahead of the regulation’s main obligations taking effect on 11 December 2027.

None of our products will be phased out as a result of these changes. On the contrary, we are investing to ensure continued compliance and long-term availability on the market. Existing installations are not affected retroactively, and updated documentation as well as new Declarations of Conformity will be issued ahead of the relevant deadlines.
